Hello There

I am Andrew Orso.
I am a data scientist
based in Salt Lake City.

More About Me

My name is Andrew Orso and I currently live in Salt Lake City. I have a passion for data science and operations research but when I'm not doing that, I can likely be found cycling or running up a mountain nearby!

The thing that drives me is learning new things while creating something that I can interact with (like this website for istance). In the professional world, my focus is on real-time machine learning but my academic background leaves me with a great appreciation for integer and linear programming.

Outside of work, I love all things outdoors. Whether it be hiking with my girlfriend and two dogs, or a three hour bike ride up one of the local mountains, I love getting out of the house. Beyond that, I love reading sci-fi and fantasy novels (Red Rising anyone?) and playing video games. Finally, when it's time to leave the city and go somewhere new, I enjoy traveling to places unlike anywhere I have been (most recently southern Utah, pictured above, and Patagonia, pictured to the right).

Latest From The Blog.

The plan here is to update this with various blog posts on projects I'm working on, most of which are just silly over-engineered versions of something that already the name of knowledge!

Facial Recognition - Idea.

Inspired by many a sci-fi movie, I wanted try and create something that would uniquely identify my face and then make some decisions or take some action from that. Not the first person to think of this so this blog will cover some of what has been done and hopefully provide some direction for where I'm going.
